In this episode we examine empathy itself. How it develops, how it is felt, and how it can be manufactured and manipulated. Inspired by the Propagandhi song “Name and Address Withheld” and an accompanying article written by a fan of the band, we discuss the selective ways in which people feel empathy, and how that may be driven by tribalism, utilitarianism, and self interest.
